In this thesis I develop a study of different physical phenomena, taking place in different types of binary systems, that harbour compact components. These studies include: a spectroscopic analysis of the symbiotic star PU Vul, using data taken during 32 years; a study of the chemical composition of the system V4641 Sgr; a multi-wavelenght study of the binary system Swift J1753.5−0127; and a spectroscopic analysis of the system IGR J17062−6143. These systems comprise a big amount of phenomena commonly observed, but poorly understood, in the Universe. The main objective of this thesis is to better understand the role of the compact objects in stellar evolution and the role of the binary systems in the evolution of the Galaxy.
