Estudio infrarrojo de la galaxia activa NGC 2992

Abstract

NGC 2992 es una galaxia que posee un núcleo activo de tipo Seyfert vista desde el Hemisferio Sur. Diferentes estudios sobre esta galaxia han presentado perfiles asimétricos, curvas distintas de velocidad radial de gas, variabilidad en su magnitud medida y submasividad del agujero negro supermasivo que hospeda. En el contexto de este trabajo, a partir de observaciones espectrales e imágenes en el infrarrojo cercano obtenidas con el instrumento Flamingos-2 ubicado en el Observatorio Gemini, se busca realizar una caracterización estructural para conocer las diferentes componentes que la conforman, así como también contribuir al escenario de variabilidad, sumando un punto de comparación a los reportes que se encuentran en la literatura científica.

NGC 2992 is a galaxy that has an active nucleus of the Seyfert type and is seen from the Southern Hemisphere. Different studies on this galaxy have presented asymmetric profiles, different radial gas velocity curves, variability in its magnitude and submassiveness of the supermassive black hole it hosts. This work, based on spectral observations and near-infrared images obtained with the Flamingos-2 instrument located at the Gemini Observatory, a structural characterization is sought to determine the different components that make it up, as well as contribute to the variability context, adding a point of comparison to the reports found in the scientific literature.
