In this special work, a point of view from Physics is given to the distinction via satellite of a flooded field from a non-flooded one. It is composed of two large parts: in the first one (chapters 1 and 2) the system to be study (crop fields in the area of the Pampa Húmeda Argentina). Then characteristics of the electromagnetic reflectance that the system as a whole has, are obtained. This is corroborated by two data sets, each one created by different professionals in the classification of flooded fields through satellite images. In the second part (chapters 3, 4 and 5), some machine learning methods are used for classification, performing several tests to determine which one is the most consistent under changes in the training set (varying which data from a set is used in the training set), and also under changes in the bias (intrinsic to each professional). Obtaining an increase in the accuracy of the classification with respect to the index classification.
