Policies of writing in the Generation Zero: Interventions in language and archives in Orlando Luis Pardo Lazo
Abstract
El artículo aborda una selección de textos pertenecientes al cubano Orlando Luis Pardo Lazo, uno de los principales exponentes de la llamada Generación Cero, publicados en los primeros años del siglo XXI. Se examinan las figuras de escritor que allí se construyen y se analizan las políticas de la escritura que estos escritores despliegan frente a dos cuestiones que afectan sus condiciones de producción literaria: la institucionalización de la lengua y la monumentalización del archivo por parte del estado y sus autoridades culturales. El ensayo se propone avanzar en la comprensión del modo en que están siendo pensadas hoy las relaciones entre literatura y política en Cuba por parte las nuevas generaciones de escritores.
The article studies a selection of texts published in the early years of the 21st century by the cuban writer Orlando Luis Pardo Lazo, one of the main exponents of the so-called Generation Zero. The essay examines the representation of the writer in those texts, and analyzes the policies of writing that these writers propose in order to solve two problems that affect his/her literary production conditions: the institutionalization of language and the monumentalization of archive by the state and its cultural authorities. The article seeks to understand how the new generations of writers are considering the relationship between literature and politics in Cuba.
