dc.description.abstractResearch shows that students at all levels see assessment as something that is done to them on their classwork by somebody else. Likewise, more and more teachers are getting dissatisfied and frustrated with the use of standardized tests as the only method to assess their students, since they consider assessment a true learning experience, and not external to the learning process. In this paper, we analyse the benefits of implementing the portfolio system as a means of evaluating students' progress in the fields of grammar and phonetics at tertiary and university level.es
