Increased prevalence of diabetic encephalopaty (DE) is now frequently seen in elderly patients suffering of longstanding diabetes mellitus type 2 (DBT2) being subtle and progressive cognitive disorders the key signs for the diagnosis of this Pathological condition. Were our aims to identify and to characterize a suitable experimental model of DE using a stabilized strain, eistar derived, of spontaneously diabetic rats named eSS. Thus, in the e-SS murine model our proposes were to assay some experiemtnal conditions, as the addition of certain PUFAs alone or plus antinflammatory agents in order to establish whether the ethiopathology and natural course of DBT2 and its linked ED would be significantly prevented and improved.
