Notas sobre pandemias, mundos y literaturas
Abstract
These notes reflecton illness, considered in its collective dimension, and its approach in some narrative texts. Within this framework, I analysethe perception of the end of the worldassociated with the spread of contagious diseases. By contrasting two scenarios, one related to the contemporary pandemic of COVID-19 and the other to the epidemics of smallpox and other diseases caused by the invasion of America by Europeans, I propose a reflection on the end of the world. On the base of the polysemy of the term world, I argue that asking what is considered as concluded and who is involved in this end constitutes a crucial question.
