The main goal of this work is the development and evaluation of a methodology for digitizing and measuring Carte du Ciel plates from Córdoba, which can be fully accomplished with actual resources at Córdoba Observatory. By means of this methodology it is possible to obtain first epoch positions with astrometric quality useful for the determination of proper motions. Using Tycho-2 as the reference catalog the positions have the highest possible accuracy for CdC plates around 0.20 arcseconds. This accuracy is limited by the measuring errors and the errors of the proper motions in the reference catalog. Proper motions determined from the combination of CdC plates with modern astrometric catalogs have an accuracy of 2mas/year. Therefore they can be applied in a number of astrometric problems such as the determination of membership probabilities in galactic open clusters. In this work we perform the first astrometric research in the field of the open cluster NGC 2587 by finding stars that are probably members of this cluster.
